Open Access Policy

Kidneys is a Gold Open Access journal. All articles are freely and permanently available online immediately upon publication. Authors retain the copyright to their work, and the journal applies an Article Processing Charge (APC) to support editorial, peer review, and publication services.

The journal allows and encourages authors to:

• deposit the published version (Version of Record) in institutional repositories

• share accepted manuscripts via personal websites or academic networks

• distribute their work freely under the selected open access license

There are no restrictions on reuse provided that the original work is properly cited.

The journal adheres to the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing as defined by:

• the Committee on Publication Ethics   (Cope),

• the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ),

• the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), and

• the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).

Open access to published content promotes wider visibility, faster scientific communication, and greater impact for authors.
