The Reference List Guidelines
Kidneys follows the Vancouver citation style according to the National Library of Medicine (NLM) standards.
All references must be:
-
numbered consecutively in the order cited in the text
-
written using Latin script only
-
verified by the authors for accuracy
-
as recent as possible (preferably from the last 5–7 years)
-
taken primarily from peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science
-
accompanied by a DOI whenever available
The journal discourages:
-
excessive self-citations
-
citations from non-scholarly sources
-
conference abstracts, dissertations, textbooks, and non-indexed journals (unless essential)
Automatic reference exporters must be checked manually by the authors.
